The composition of your Board has changed. We have assembled a team of skilled and committed professionals with a depth of knowledge and experience in ACHA’s key operational, business and health areas. Here is some background on each of your directors.

Mike Terlet AO
Chairman
MBA, FAIM, FAICD, JP

Mike was responsible for the formation and growth of the largest private sector Defence and Aerospace Company in Australia from 1978 to 1992. He retired in 1992 as Managing Director. He brings a wealth of experience as a Director and Chairman. He was made an officer of the General Order of Australia for contributions to industry and export in 1991. He has served as President of the South Australian Employers Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Engineering Employers Association and is currently Chairman and Director of a number of public and private companies.

Prof Carol Gaston
Director
B App Sci (Nursing), B Ed, Grad Dip Env Studies, Grad Dip AICD

Carol has over 30 years experience in health care, including senior executive positions with the South Australian Health Commission and Deputy Chair and Executive Officer of the South Australian Generational Health Review.

Carol is now Deputy Chair of the newly formed Central, Northern Metropolitan Health Board and is a director of many other health-related organisations. She is an adviser to a range of human services nationally and internationally including the World Health Organisation.

Tony Johnson
Director
BA, LLB, LLM (Companies and Securities), FAICD

Tony is a highly respected Adelaide legal practitioner and practising authority in commercial and corporate law. He is an experienced company director and advises many South Australian businesses in directors’ responsibilities, corporate governance and risk management. Tony is a LEADR Accredited Mediator and has been admitted as a practitioner to the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Courts of NSW & SA. He has had a long association with the Adelaide Medical School as a Governor and Vice President of the Medical Foundation of the University of Adelaide.

Alice McCleary
Director
BEc, FCA, FTIA, FAICD

Alice is the Deputy Chancellor of the University of South Australia and a director of a number of public companies. She is a highly respected accounting professional and her area of expertise is corporate taxation. Alice is an experienced leader with a wealth of experience in corporate governance, professional advice and policy development.

Dr Phil Munt
Director
MBBS, FRACP (Paediatrics)

Phil is a consultant physician in paediatrics. He has held a range of senior advisory and leadership roles including paediatric and neo-natal intensive care at Flinders Medical Centre. He was instrumental in the establishment of a high dependency neo-natal unit at Ashford Hospital, the first only private nursery of this level in South Australia. Phil has been on the Ashford and ACHA Medical Advisory Committees for ten years and is currently the Chairman and Medical Director.

Rev Dr Tony Nancarrow
Director
BA (Journ), LTh, Dip RE, DMin, Grad Dip AICD, FAIM

Tony is a Minister of the Word in the Uniting Church in Australia, serving for 30 years in the area of communications. In addition to his leadership in communications and publishing, Tony has a long association with private health as a former Chairman and Deputy Chairman of The Memorial Hospital. His other board appointments include Chairman of the Resources Board of the SA Synod of the Uniting Church in Australia, and Chairman of MediaCom Education Inc.

Dr Igor Nikitins
Director
MBBS, FRACP

Igor specialises in general and thoracic (chest) medicine and has conducted his private practice from Ashford Hospital for more than 20 years. He has held leadership posts with the College of Physicians and the Thoracic Society of Australia & New Zealand and is a Consultant Physician to the Respiratory Medicine Unit, Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Barry Noble
Director/Deputy Chairman BEc, Grad Dip AICD

Barry is Chairman of the ACHA Board Finance and Audit Committee. He has extensive experience in the finance and banking sector. Until very recently, his other positions included Senior Representative in SA for the Reserve Bank of Australia, with which he has held senior posts for about 35 years. He is an experienced director, with his directorships including Bridgestone Australia Ltd, and a former Chairman of the CPS Credit Union.
