ACHA's Board of Directors

ACHA is governed by a Board of eight Directors, elected and appointed in accordance with it's Constitution.

  

 

Mr Mike Terlet AO
Chairman
MBA, FAIM, FAICD, JP

Mike has extensive experience as a Director of successful public and private companies and has a wealth of knowledge and understanding of corporate governance requirements. He was made an Officer of the General Order of Australia in 1991 in recognition of his contributions to industry and export.

Mr Barry Noble
Deputy Chairman
BEc, FAICD

Barry is an experienced Director and currently serves on the Boards of Currency Research Ltd (UK) and Non Linear Concepts Inc (USA).
On 1 August 2008, he retired after five years as a Director of Bridgestone Australia Ltd.
 
He has extensive experience in the banking and finance sector, has held senior positions with the Reserve Bank of Australia – both in Adelaide and Sydney – and is a past Chairman of the CPS Credit Union. He has particular skills in finance issues, incorporating restructuring, risk management and corporate governance.

Ms Carol Gaston AM
Director
B App Sci (Nursing), B Ed, Grad Dip Env Studies, GAICD

Carol brings to the Board governance knowledge and over 30 years’ experience as a clinical nurse, administrator and consultant advisor to governments, non-government organisations and the private sector.
 
Carol was made a member of the Order of Australia (General Division) in 2008 in recognition of her services to the community and contribution to health services in South Australia.

Mr Tony Johnson
Director
BA, LLB, LLM (Companies and Securities), FAICD

Tony is Chairman of the national law firm Johnson Winter and Slattery.
He is a highly respected legal practitioner and an experienced company director. He  practices in the area of corporate advisory and dispute resolution, and advises many companies and businesses on matters relating to Director responsibilities, corporate governance and risk management.
 
Furthermore, as Governor and Vice President of the Florey Medical Foundation of the University of Adelaide, he has enjoyed a long association with the University's Medical School.

Ms Alice McCleary

Alice is a highly respected accounting professional who brings corporate governance skills to the Board, particularly those relating to the taxation, audit, finance and stakeholder reporting.

Dr Phil Munt
Director
MBBS, FRACP (Paediatrics)

Phil is a consultant physician in paediatrics and has held a range of senior advisory and leadership positions, including paediatric and neo-natal intensive care. He was instrumental in the establishment of a high dependency neo-natal unit at Ashford Hospital, the first and only private nursery of this level in South Australia.
 
Phil served as Chair of the ACHA Medical Advisory Committee from its inception until September 2007. He is currently a member of the Medical Advisory Panel for MIGA/MDASA.

Rev Dr Tony Nancarrow
Director
BA (Journ), LTh, Dip RE, DMin, GAICD, FAIM

A Minister of the Word in the Uniting Church in Australia, Tony has served the church in a communications and publishing capacity for 30 years. He enjoys a long association with private health as a former Chairman and Deputy Chairman of The Memorial Hospital.

Dr Trevor Mudge
Director
MBBS, DA (RCP&S), FRACOG, FRCOG, FAMA, MAICD 

Trevor has worked in Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Infertility for more than thirty years. He has worked in public, private and academic settings. He cofounded the first successful IVF unit in South Australia at Flinders Medical Centre, delivering the first baby in 1982. He has spent more than 20 years in medical politics including three years as Federal Vice President of the Australian Medical Association. He has recently retired from his clinical commitments.
 
He is currently a member of the newly constituted Medical Board of Australia.
